Highlights in this installment include:
- Tanner and company start cleaning out the Ricovia Police Force, and in doing so kick over the hornets’ nest. The Organization retaliates swiftly and strongly. Tanner and company quickly find themselves on defense, again. Body counts start to rise on both sides, and Tanner’s allies start to get nervous.
- Tanner discovers several bad assumptions and nearly gets everyone on his team killed, and he starts to wonder if there could be more “bad assumptions.”
- The romance between Loden and Rissa starts to heat up, and it threatens to put both their lives in danger. Loden tries to come to grips with his emotions as the gloves come off and Rissa becomes the target for armed assassins. Meanwhile, Rissa is forced to face her own fears and return to face her jailors with Tanner at her side.
- Tanner finally meets the Old Man “face-to-face” … almost … sort of. Well, when you read it, you will get the idea. Nevertheless, The “discussion” is most enlightening, and it causes Tanner to second guess his entire strategy. The oily words of the Old Man sound most enticing, and one wonders if Tanner just might agree to the armistice.
- Rissa’s father, Domus, has some serious decisions to make, and more than a few demons of his own to face.
